4/12/2024 EnchantaVaughn Approved Behavior: Upon arrival to the home setting, Laylah was non-compliant for most of the session, refusing to conduct herself appropriately and show leadership skills during the activity. Laylah is often observed showing frequent anger reactions, in which she exhibited oppositional defiance. It was difficult for Laylah to stay on task at which mother reports these behaviors last for days for about 10 minutes in duration. Behavior: Laylah appeared very moody today for no reason neglecting her duties in the home and in the session. Laylah did not take constructive criticism well and proceeded to walk away without permission at which this behavior last for about 2-4 minutes in duration. Intervention: QMHP-C began session by inquiring about Laylahâs current thoughts, feelings and emotions. QMHP-C educated Laylah on the importance of following directions and explained to Laylah the good things that follow when doing so to prevent from having verbal confrontations with her mother. Laylah was educated on conflict resolution skills and how to use in conflict with peers. Intervention: QMHP-C discussed with Laylah on her tone and the way she makes her face can be read by others as disrespectful, angry and defensive. QMHP-C educated Laylah on age-appropriate communication skills. Laylah was firmly reminded that her mother is the authority in the home and she should follow directions without any back talk. Role playing exercises were conducted to educated Laylah on how to appropriately respond to her mother and other authority figures when she is confronted. Response: Laylah appeared to be receptive to QMHP-Csâ interventions and services that were provided to her during the session. Laylah actively engaged in role play often stopping to laugh at scenarios provided and exchanging, but displayed a clear understanding in the appropriate application of techniques shown when encountering frustration. Laylah verbalized feelings of ineptness in regards to other activities. Laylah was unable to identify any strengths or interest outside of watching TV and playing video games. Laylah stated that she has been following directions at home. Laylah denied that she disrespects her mother because she really is not trying to hear her motherâs mouth because she does just fuss for no reason at times. Response: Laylah later verbalized that she talks back when she is mad. Laylah was able to respond to redirection in a positive manner. Laylah listened actively and gave feedback. Laylah was initially apprehensive about participating in role playing exercise but did respond to encouragement and participated. Laylah continues to struggle with being able to engage in age-appropriate communication skills with those who are in authority.
